Let me sing a little Rascal Flatts for you.
I woke up this morning
With this feeling inside me that I can’t explain
Like a weight that I’ve carried
Been carried away, away.
It’s been over four years since I released a novel guide. More than four years. Four long years I’ve had this project on my plate, moving around my plate, kicked off my plate, jumping back on my plate. FOUR YEARS. Whatever the reason, some combination of writer’s block, time mismanagement, priority shifting, mental health resets, working-homeschool-mom madness, it feels like it took me forever to find my rhythm in working on this, the third Musicuentos ebook guide to an authentic novel.
And now, it feels like today.
Esperanza renace is published by Scholastic en Español and is available cheapest from their store, but you can also get it from Amazon (just make sure you’re looking at the Spanish edition- it will say “Scholastic en español” on the bottom). This novel is the most accessible for learners of the three so far. And it’s actually more upbeat than Cajas de cartón! (Check out my other ebooks here – the Ciudad one is free now!).
Why do I write ebook guides to authentic books? When my learners were ready for a challenge that would bring authentic language and culture beyond what any learner novel could do, I couldn’t find anything to make this monumental task a bit more accessible to them. If it wasn’t accessible, if it wasn’t comprehensible, it was useless. So, I wrote my own. Over the years, I’ve turned them into professionally formatted, edited ebooks for you to use to incorporate these wonderful books into your intermediate and advanced Spanish classes as well.
The ebook reader’s guide to Esperanza renace is 77 pages long. These include my introduction and chapter guides for the novel’s introduction and all thirteen of its chapters, along with an 11-page glossary of every vocabulary word and phrase. Also, for the first time, I’ve included an answer key.
